Upper Merion Township, located in King of Prussia, PA, is seeking a creative, social media-savvy, and adaptable Library Marketing & Programs Assistant who will report directly to the Adult Programming and Technology Coordinator. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional public library service to patrons. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, demonstrates integrity, possesses a strong work ethic, and is comfortable leading independently or collaboratively. Position Objective: To support the library’s marketing, programming, and public service efforts, with a focus on young adult engagement, community communication, and digital presence. This position plays a key role in creating content, coordinating logistics, assisting with technology services, and running teen-focused library initiatives. Essential Job Functions: Develop and post content across social media platforms regularly. Gather information from staff and create physical flyers to promote upcoming programs to patrons. Coordinate logistics for library programs, including room reservations. Update and maintain website content, working closely with the Public Information Office as necessary. Create and manage physical signage in the library following branding standards. Maintain and update calendar events and library closures. Provide one-on-one tech help via scheduled appointments. Plan and run high school/young adult programs. Develop young adult book lists and recommendations to aid library assistants in reader’s advisory tasks. Assist in developing and supporting passive programs for young adults and adult audiences. Serve as Passport Acceptance Agent. Proctor exams following institutional guidelines. Assist in creating and maintaining young adult and adult library displays. Performs other duties as assigned to support library operations and services. Physical Characteristics: Walk, sit, bend, and reach materials with ease and comfort. Carry items weighing up to 25 pounds; climb and balance on a 14-inch footstool. Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required: Bachelor degree preferred; coursework in marketing & communications. 1–2 years of experience in marketing and a customer service setting. Experience working with teens or young adults is strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills for crafting clear and engaging messages. Experience creating promotional content for print, web, and social media platforms. Advanced experience in using design tools (e.g., Canva) for flyers, posters, and graphics. Familiarity with social media platforms and website content management systems (CMS). Strong organizational skills to manage multiple events and timelines simultaneously. Ability to assess community needs and develop programs that are inclusive, educational, and engaging. Ability to teach technology skills clearly and patiently to users of all ages and skill levels. Additional Requirements: PA Child Abuse; PA Criminal background check; and FBI fingerprint clearances, or the ability to obtain them. Mandated Reporter training and six hours of continuing education every two years. Available to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required. Ability to perform tasks requiring visual acuity, including reading fine print. Solves problems quickly and effectively. Can read and understand written instructions.
