The Marketing Department has an immediate opening for a Media Relations Manager. This position may be located in the New York or Washington, DC office. The Manager is responsible for increasing visibility around our core Industry Groups and leading practices by building awareness of our key partners, capabilities, and offerings at the intersection of regulatory, litigation and transactional expertise. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight (8) years of media relations and communications experience, preferably with a law firm, media outlet, or professional services organization. This role requires a passionate, proactive communicator who can counsel firm partners and senior staff in a fast-paced environment and handle high-profile issues. Responsibilities

As a member of the Media Relations team, help to create, develop, plan and execute communications strategies, leveraging AI-driven tools and analytics to optimize outreach efforts. Obtain placements in appropriate media outlets based on strategic plans and proactive opportunities to raise visibility of the firm, Industry Groups/practice areas, and partners. Develop and cultivate relationships with press contacts at relevant legal, business, policy, and technology publications, including international, national, and regional media. Develop effective relationships with partners to earn their trust and enable collaboration on proactive media opportunities. Prepare partners for media interviews and participate in meetings with key reporters; provide substantive feedback after media interviews. Write communication materials such as press releases, media pitches, and pre-briefing documents. Develop and deliver high-visibility competitive analysis reports. Work closely with Business Development and Brand/Editorial Content teams to identify cross-collaboration opportunities on industry trends, matters, and newsworthy client work to promote. Support strategy around internal and crisis communications where needed. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of eight (8) years of media and/or public relations and strategic communications experience, preferably at a law firm, media outlet or professional services organization. Existing media relationships and proven ability to build new relationships. Strong news sense and understanding of what it takes to generate impactful media coverage and how to measure ROI, including familiarity with AI-powered analytics tools. Experience in developing and successfully executing communications plans. Experience working in a complex/technical area preferred. Journalism background a plus. Proficiency using Internet sources; knowledge of PR/Media tools including Meltwater. Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to provide high-level media relations counsel to attorneys and professional staff on key industry sectors. Experience with Life Sciences; Financial Services; Consumer Products and Retail; Technology, Telecommunications and Media; and Aerospace, Defense and National Security sectors. Strong relationships with key media contacts in legal, business, policy and tech sectors. Ability to write and pitch story ideas, client wins, thought leadership, op-eds and brand profiles in targeted media outlets. Passion for tracking industry trends to provide editors and firm leadership with fresh content ideas. Digital and social media savvy; good judgment when interacting with attorneys and media/publishing companies. Comfortable interacting with and counseling partners and senior-level staff. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple demands and meet deadlines under pressure. Prior supervisory experience.
