A Day in the Life
As an Environmental Graphic Designer, you will be part of the Graphic Design team, collaborating with urban designers, landscape architects, planners, and engineers to help users engage with the built environment. You will bridge 2D and 3D design, applying visual communication to help users understand and navigate spaces, and help public clients envision possibilities for streets, trails, and transit stations. You will participate in stakeholder outreach and design workshops, concept plans, design guidelines, wayfinding strategies, branding, signage, and map design, with deliverables ranging from presentations and reports to design intent documents and final artwork. Opportunities for work in urban design, illustration, and 3D renderings are available depending on background and skills.
The EGD team includes designers in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and Austin, and the selected candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Toole Design’s 19 offices nationwide.
Salary target: $72,000 to $80,000, with flexibility for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Work Schedule
This full-time position typically requires 40 hours per week and will work from our Seattle office. The role offers the flexibility to work from home 2 days per week. The Seattle office is located in the heart of Seattle’s Business District, near Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, Central Public Library, and Waterfront, with easy access by foot, bicycle, transit, or ferry. RapidRide lines C, D, and E stop nearby, and several Sound Transit lines are within a short walk. Bike lanes are nearby on 2nd and 4th Avenues.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, industrial design, landscape architecture, or related field from an accredited college or university and/or comparable work experience in lieu of a degree
- 3+ years of graphic design experience
- Excellent typography, color, and layout skills
- Proficiency in graphic production using Adobe Creative Suite
- Some experience in 3D design preferred, such as experience with CADTools, Sketchup, SignAgent, and the preparation of signage and wayfinding drawings. Please apply if you have other 3D experience and a strong interest to learn.
