Job Summary
Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory, including performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. This position will interact on a consistent basis with academic and/or research faculty members, staff and students; it may advise lab users and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.
- Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
- Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
- May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.
- Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Projects
- LuminAI: Implement the Body Action Taxonomy within the pipeline.
- LuminAIx: Implement panels one and three for AI literacy installation.
- LuminAI at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport: Design a LuminAI Lite version optimized for long-running operation and data collection; assess sensor integration.
- LuminAI Duet: Develop two installations for cross-country public interaction and potential publications or festival submissions.
Educational Requirements
- Required Qualifications: High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
- Other Required Qualifications: Ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed, potentially including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Required Experience: Up to two years of job related experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Unity software experience
Salary and Hours
Proposed Salary: We are looking for a candidate who can commit to 20 hours of work per week for $30-/hr
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
This job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to the assigned lab. Skills in inventory management and the use of specialized computer applications are required.

Other Information
This is not a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. The role will not require travel or a security clearance. The LuminAI project involves collaboration with KSU and aims to study human co-creative practice to inform AI technology development.
