Job Summary

Teach MUSC 3910 Elementary Music Methods to Music Education majors each fall semester and EDUC 3025 Music for Early Childhood Education for Education majors each spring semester. Assist in recruiting Music and Music Education majors, and possibly occasionally teach additional courses in the music curriculum congruent with departmental need and candidate expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Teach MUSC 3910 Elementary Music Methods course for Music Education majors.
  • Teach EDUC 3025 Music for Early Childhood Education course for other Education majors.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment of students to the Music and Music Education majors.
  • Fulfill periodic departmental duties (e.g., service on jury and recital grading committees).

Required Qualifications

  • An earned master's degree in Music or Music Education.
  • Successful teaching experience in public elementary schools.
  • Residence in the state of Georgia is necessary to be hired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful university teaching experience.
  • Credentials in one of the principal elementary music modalities (e.g., Kodaly, Orff, Dalcroze).
  • Ability to teach other courses integral to the Music and/or Music Education majors (e.g., Introduction to Music Ed and Technology, Instrumental Music Methods, Music Theory, Aural Skills, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Successful elementary teaching experience.
