Job Summary

  • Tenure‑track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Teach core musicianship courses (music theory, aural skills, class piano) beginning January 2026.
  • Serve as coordinator for the comprehensive musicianship core curriculum for all department majors and minors in music.
  • Build a regional model of successful music literacy and musicianship development for all students.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in music or music education (ABD with degree awarded by May 2026 will be considered).
  • Strong keyboard proficiency.
  • Successful experience teaching class piano, music literacy courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating a comprehensive musicianship program at the college level.
  • Experience in music student recruiting and potential to contribute to an active recruitment program at Clayton State.
  • Evidence of scholarly potential, including presentations and publications focused on developing musicianship and music literacy in student populations.

Will Be Particularly Welcome

  • Ability to teach applied lessons in areas of departmental need.
  • Ability to teach additional courses in areas such as music business, music technology, and music education.
