Overview

Crooked Media is looking for a dynamic, endlessly curious, and innovative producer for our daily news podcast, What A Day. Our team works to help listeners start their day informed, engaged, and ready to discuss current events with clarity and humor.

Responsibilities

• Using daily news judgment to assist with editorial planning, research, script writing, and prepping the host for daily shows
• Monitoring the news and staying in the loop with current events
• Booking guests and collaborating with the host on smart questions and approaches
• Crafting copy and questions that are clear, snappy, and accurate
• Cutting interviews and conversations and identifying compelling audio clips
• Maintaining journalistic integrity while balancing Crooked’s tone and humor
• Filling in for the senior producer as needed
• Providing in-studio feedback to the host during recordings and QCing the show as needed
• Collaborating and communicating across the organization

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in news, editorial, radio, or podcast production
• Proven ability to work within daily or political news environments under tight deadlines
• Excellent writing, editing, and research skills with strong editorial judgment
• Track record of booking guests on tight deadlines
• Solid understanding of journalism principles and ethics
• Humor and resilience in面对 challenging news cycles
• Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity
• Proficiency with Descript, ProTools, Adobe Audition, or other audio editing software
• Self-motivated, collaborative, creative, and accountable approach
• Flexibility to adapt to change and respond to audience needs
• Experience delivering news with a humorous or entertaining tone

• Starting salary: $100,000 (salary may reflect experience and other compensable factors)

Work Location
