Overview

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health seeks qualified candidates for emergency Video Production Specialist vacancies related to the homelessness crisis. Under an emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Write, produce, direct, and edit audio and video productions.
  • Plan and develop audio and video programs by transforming objectives into production concepts within budget and time constraints.
  • Convert production ideas into finished scripts by preparing outlines, storyboards, shot lists, and dialog with director’s instructions.
  • Analyze scripts to determine effective presentation of ideas, considering clarity, credibility, color, and psychological impact.
  • Operate broadcast-quality audio and video production equipment as a producer, director, or crew member.
  • Direct the production of a variety of materials (audio, video, online trainings, and self-paced instructional materials) and manage associated archiving and distribution.
  • Operate or supervise operation of multimedia equipment and evaluate and maintain equipment and software used for production.
  • Coordinate projects and monitor the feasibility and quality of outside vendor services when contracted.

Qualifications and Requirements

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in communications, journalism, film, fine arts or a related field and one year of experience within the last three years writing, producing, and directing training or informational programs using broadcast-level video technology.

LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed.

PHYSICAL CLASS: Physical Class II – Light. This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, with possible bending, stooping, or squatting and considerable ambulation.
