VIDEO PRODUCTION SPECIALIST/EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS HOMELESSNESS
Position announced as an emergency recruitment with the Department of Mental Health to address homelessness-related issues in Los Angeles County. Initial appointment period may be up to 90 days under emergency order, with opportunity for permanent County employment pending performance assessment.
Responsibilities
- Writing, producing, directing, and editing audio and video productions.
- Plan and develop audio and video programs by transforming training and other objectives into production ideas within budget and time constraints.
- Convert production ideas into finished scripts by collaborating with subject matter experts, preparing outlines, storyboards, shot lists, and writing dialog with directors instructions.
- Analyze scripts with complex subject matter to determine effective presentation considering clarity, effect, credibility, color, and psychological impact.
- Operate broadcast-quality audio and video production equipment as producer, director, or crew, following the director and lead operator to ensure artistic and technical quality.
- Operate on PC and Macintosh computers with word processing, communications, database, graphics, video and audio editing, and other software.
- Direct the production of a wide variety of materials including audio recordings, video productions, online/web-based meetings/trainings, and self-paced instructional materials, with related handling (mixing, editing, duplication, distribution, storage/archiving).
- Operate or supervise a wide variety of audio/visual equipment (cameras, recorders, audio mixers, lighting, projectors) and maintain equipment hardware and software used for multi-media production.
- Study and recommend solutions to production problems, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor contracts, and monitor outside vendor performance and quality.
- Coordinate projects and evaluate feasibility of using contract services as needed.
Requirements
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in communications, journalism, film, fine arts or a related field, and one (1) year of experience within the last three (3) years writing, producing, and directing training or informational programs using broadcast level video technology.

License: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to perform job-related functions.
Physical Class: II – Light. This includes light physical effort and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds with possible bending, stooping, or squatting; considerable ambulation may be involved.
