KHOU 11, the CBS affiliate and TEGNA-owned station in Houston, is seeking a Streaming Producer to expand and elevate our local streaming presence. This is a morning news position working with our team that collectively produces 4 hours of news per day across linear and streaming platforms. We're looking for an innovative, driven journalist who is passionate about creating live coverage, original storytelling, and dynamic local content for all audiences and platforms.
At KHOU 11, we believe the future of news is streaming — and our platforms are at the heart of our mission to engage, inform, and reflect Houston's diverse communities. This producer will be responsible for producing live programming on our KHOU 11+ streaming channel, developing local shows and segments, and ensuring KHOU 11's streaming content is essential, timely, and audience focused.
Responsibilities
- Produce daily live newscasts, special reports, and original programming for both linear channels and KHOU 11+ streaming platforms.
- Manage continuous live coverage of breaking news and community events, creatively combining live video, graphics, sound, and context to keep viewers informed.
- Produce video and digital content for multiple platforms including but not limited to linear, web and social.
- Curate and schedule content specifically for the streaming audience.
- Pitch, develop, and produce new show concepts and original digital segments.
- Work closely with newsroom leadership, digital producers, and field crews to coordinate live and recorded content.
- Use real-time data and audience analytics to guide editorial decisions and show development.
- Champion coverage that highlights and represents Houston's diverse communities.
- Stay current on emerging streaming technologies, digital content trends, and audience habits.
- Adapt and repurpose content from broadcast and digital platforms specifically for streaming needs.
- Help build the identity of KHOU 11's streaming channel through creative storytelling and strong journalistic instincts.
Qualifications
- Strong editorial judgment, writing, producing, and communication skills.
- Experience producing for live television, digital platforms, or streaming services.
- Knowledge of non-linear editing, live streaming software, and newsroom systems.
- Ability to multitask and remain flexible during fast-moving news events.
- Deep understanding of local news, community impact, and how to meet the needs of digital audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.
- Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
