Mechanical Designer - HVAC/Plumbing (MEP)

Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This role involves investigating, developing, and delivering engineering solutions for a wide variety of facilities, from early project phases through construction close-out. The focus will be on HVAC design and development for municipalities, schools, and other commercial facilities, including both retrofit and new construction projects.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal team members and clients to develop and implement construction projects.

• Generate engineering documents for bidding and construction work.

• Conduct on-site data collection and analysis for design development.

• Design HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, air and hydronic distribution, plumbing, and building automation controls.

• Perform system load calculations and evaluate design options using engineering and energy modeling software.

• Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

• Review and refine design deliverables for accuracy and quality.

• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and other trades to ensure high-quality results.

• Maintain knowledge of current standards, codes, and industry practices.

• Support business development activities by assisting with partner and customer relationships.

• Proactively pursue continuous learning with industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design (MEP).

• Advanced proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Strong attention to detail and deadline-oriented mindset.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with a client-first approach.

• Ability to travel locally to construction sites.
