AmeriCorps members with Gateway to the Great Outdoors (GGO) support Chicago students through hands-on STEAM, wellness, and outdoor learning, while also strengthening the organization behind the scenes. A key part of their role is development and fundraising, where members draft grant applications and reports, research new funding opportunities, track donations, write thank-you notes, and help plan and promote fundraising events. They also assist with communications by updating the website, creating social media content, and designing outreach materials. In programming, members mentor students, lead lessons and field trips, and gather stories and feedback to show impact. Their combined efforts ensure that GGO has the resources, visibility, and capacity to provide meaningful opportunities for students in Chicago’s Title I schools. Program Benefits
