Overview Senior Cryptographic PKI Lead (Remote-Eligible)
Capital One is seeking a Senior Cryptographic PKI Lead to deliver cybersecurity solutions based on threat, data, and design thinking. This role supports the Data Protection Service Area and drives the strategic agenda for Cryptographic Services, translating vision into delivery objectives and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable features.
What You'll Do
Develop and guide the strategy, vision, and roadmap for Enterprise Cryptographic services and solutions, including Encryption and Key & Certificate Management, in partnership with Product partners, customers, and stakeholders Analyze threat, risk, and viability of cryptographic implementations across the tech stack (disk, volume, storage, databases, application-level, file-level, field-level, portable devices) Assess cryptographic implementations across key IaaS and SaaS providers engaged by Capital One Explore effectiveness and value of new Encryption, Key & Certificate Management technologies Provide subject matter expertise to shape Cryptographic Standards, Policies, and Procedures Communicate the delivery roadmap to technology teams Leverage technical knowledge to support engineering teams in delivering value Facilitate build vs. buy decisions to address business and technology risks Maintain close relationships with stakeholders, developers, and engineers to ensure services meet evolving needs Engage with customers to seek and apply feedback Advise executive decision makers based on business and technology risk grounded in threat analysis Maintain technical and risk credibility with teams and engineering partners Iterate quickly and see products through to production and scale Lead and mentor software engineers and managers to manage a portfolio of cryptography projects that meet regulatory needs Share passion for staying on top of tech trends, learning new technologies, and mentoring the engineering community Collaborate with leadership to deliver high-level initiatives and shape strategy and roadmaps Engage with senior product managers across teams to deliver comprehensive cryptography-enabled security features Recruit, motivate, mentor, and lead talent About You
Passionate about protecting data confidentiality Deep experience in Encryption, Key & Certificate Management as a Product Manager, Architect, or Engineer Strong understanding of cryptographic algorithms, protocols, and implementations Experience with Data at Rest and Data in Transit Encryption methods as a Product Manager, Architect, or Engineer Familiar with transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography and able to steer the organization Strong consulting and analytical skills Ability to foster collaborative relationships with technology groups and stakeholders, including vendor relationships Clear communication skills with ability to influence leadership and translate technical information for different audiences Experience delivering high-visibility, high-impact cybersecurity projects with cross-functional teams Passion and expertise in data protection, data governance, data loss prevention, or related cybersecurity capabilities Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree 6+ years of experience in Cryptographic Services (Encryption, Key Management, Certificate Management) 2+ years of experience in public cloud security and multi-cloud environments Experience in regulated financial services organizations Certifications such as AWS Security, CISSP, GIAC, CISM, CCSP, CISA, or CRISC Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent At least 6 years of experience in Cybersecurity At least 5 years of experience in Cryptographic Services At least 5 years of experience in IT Delivery projects At least 2 years of experience in an Agile environment Additional details: Remote work eligible Compensation and Benefits Salary information is location-based and listed below for guidance. Remote: $204,900 - $233,800; McLean, VA: $225,400 - $257,200; New York, NY: $245,900 - $280,600; Plano, TX: $204,900 - $233,800; Richmond, VA: $204,900 - $233,800; San Jose, CA: $245,900 - $280,600. Actual offer depends on location. Eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
