B2B Brand and Industry Marketing Director - CVS Media Exchange (CMX)

Position Summary
Do you have a passion for building a brand and implementing innovative marketing programs to create differentiation in a cluttered, yet fast growing industry? Are you deeply familiar with retail media brand strategy, brand narrative & campaign development, multi-channel (paid, owned, and earned) execution, event marketing, and demand generation — have executed at scale, driving business results and brand equity along the way? If you answered yes, join the CVS Media Exchange (CMX) business as the Lead Director of Brand & Industry Marketing Strategy.
Responsibilities
Lead a small but mighty team focused on defining and building the CMX brand, properly positioning CMX internally and externally, and identifying how the brand comes to life to create long-term equity.
Inspire innovative brand marketing, communications and storytelling across all communications and touchpoints, as well as industry activations.
Develop the annual marketing and editorial calendar supported with campaigns to drive advertiser acquisition and retention, and implement a lead management process for the Partner Management Team.
Report to the Head of CMX Marketing with close partnership across the Monetization Leadership Team, Corporate Communications, and Heart Haus (internal CVS Health agency).
Oversee the CMX brand strategy, architecture, content calendar and narrative across all touch points.
Drive the CMX marketing plan and annual activation calendar, including messaging strategy, industry events and speaking engagements, and sales enablement for new advertiser acquisition and client extensions.
Define the owned and earned content calendar across channels (CMX site, LinkedIn, eNewsletter) and collaborate with CVS Health Corporate Communications and external PR agency for earned coverage.
Partner with Consumer Insights to understand advertisers and opportunities related to awareness and satisfaction via semi-annual brand tracker surveys.
Develop and manage the annual marketing budget, analyze spending, and ensure cost-effectiveness and ROI.
Lead and mentor a growing team of marketers, prioritizing activities that support CMX’s strategic goals and foster a culture of inspiration and growth.

CVS Media Exchange [CMX] is dedicated to driving measurable outcomes for our suppliers, merchants, stores, GMs, brand advertisers, and agencies. Our full-funnel ad solutions leverage CVS’s in-store and online data to provide measurable results for our clientele, with flexible pricing and buying models including self-service.
Hybrid model with 3 onsite days/week at one of the following locations:
Boston, MA
Wellesley, MA
Woonsocket, RI
New York / Soho area, NY
Blue Bell, PA
Chicago, IL
Travel requirement is up to 25%.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of marketing strategy experience with a strong foundation in retail or commerce media, B2B consumer product goods, pharma, & media agency as a customer understanding
6+ years cross-functional leadership experience
4+ years of brand marketing or commerce agency/strategy experience
4+ years of digital marketing experience including testing and validating emerging opportunities, with emphasis on B2B content
2+ years of brand or category management experience is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Strong Retail/Commerce Media acumen with understanding of market landscape and key players
Proven B2B storyteller, able to distill complex concepts into compelling content
Editorial mindset for a flexible B2B content and event calendar responsive to market dynamics
Ability to work in a highly matrixed organization with internal and external partners
Self-motivated, high-capacity, and outcome-driven
Excellent written and verbal communication across diverse audiences
Creative problem solver who can incorporate new learnings into plans
Experience with marketing technology, enablement, lead generation and management
Fact-based decision making balancing analytics with experience
Ability to navigate formal channels and relationships across the organization
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field or equivalent (HS Diploma + 4 yrs experience) required
MBA preferred
Pay Range
The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $100,000.00 - $231,540.00
This base pay range is for all positions in the job grade; actual offer depends on experience, education, geography and other factors. This position is eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive, and includes an equity award target.
