Studio Tech / Audio Tech (Part-Time/On-call) at Bonneville International
Position overview This onsite role requires regularly working at our Salt Lake City site and involves operating studio cameras and audio equipment, plus related duties to support KSL TV productions on a part-time basis.
Key responsibilities
- Mix audio during newscasts
- Maintain and troubleshoot microphones, IFBs, and other on-air audio equipment
- Operate studio cameras, handheld cameras, robotic cameras, camera control units, teleprompter, and related television equipment
- Act as floor director for KSL News programs and other KSL productions as scheduled
- Perform studio technician functions with a focus on high-quality production values
- Set up, clean, and perform minor maintenance on sets and equipment in news and production studios
- Perform clerical functions as necessary
- Take direction from directors and/or producers to achieve the best on-air product
- Offer suggestions for improvement of newscasts and other productions
Required skills & experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work rapidly and effectively under pressure
- Organized, able to meet deadlines, and a self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to operate studio camera, handheld camera, teleprompter, and camera control units
- Good vision and ability to contribute creatively in camera composition and production activities
- Prefer minimum of one-year previous on-air commercial television studio production experience or equivalent
- Prefer basic computer skills
- Willing to work hours required and to work additional hours to meet deadlines
Physical demands
- Receive and process information through oral and written communication
- Substantial physical movements of wrists, hands, and fingers
- Lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs. or heavy studio equipment as needed
- Good hand-eye coordination
Compensation
$15.00–$17.30 per hour. Hourly rate determined by factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with internal equity and market data.
