Overview
Kenai Peninsula College Library is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Library Technician to join our team. This temporary, part-time position is for 20 hours per week, typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm, with occasional adjustments to ensure adequate library coverage and meet service demands. The position is temporary and will end on May 9th, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Manage circulation and access services, such as checking materials in and out, processing holds, shelving books, and assisting patrons with account issues.
- Answer library phones, take messages, and help patrons locate and retrieve library materials.
- Inform patrons about library services and assist students, faculty, and researchers in accessing scholarly resources and academic support.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation and one year of related experience required
- Good understanding of computer applications
- Excellent customer relations and communication skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Respect for library users and a commitment to student success and lifelong learning
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technology skills, including experience with integrated library systems and academic databases
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in an academic or public library setting; knowledge of academic databases and scholarly information systems
Position Details
This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary staff position starting at $16.15 per hour.
