Overview

Position Summary
The Hooley-Bundschu Library and Learning Commons is looking for a responsible, motivated, and well-organized individual to manage the day-to-day operations of the library’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. Tuition remission for an average of 6 hours of Avila graduate credit hours per semester, not to exceed 15 graduate credit hours per year.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve books from the library and from the library’s auxiliary stacks.
  • Reshelve and organize books.
  • Check out and check in books.
  • Use library ILL software to coordinate borrowing and lending with other libraries.
  • Ship books to libraries and receive shipments.
  • Make copies of articles and book chapters requested by other libraries.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of items sent from or received by the Avila library.
  • Communicate with other libraries to resolve lending and borrowing issues.
  • Communicate with staff on library operations.
  • Enact and enforce library policies.
  • Assist with circulation procedures or at the library circulation desk as needed. Training will be provided on ILL and Circulation Staff procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be admitted and enrolled as an Avila graduate student for Fall 2025.
  • Must be a domestic student.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Ability to assist a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to precisely enter data into library software and interlibrary loan systems.
  • Knowledge of basic library services and the Dewey Decimal System preferred (training will be provided if needed).
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and independently.
