Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Dean of Creative, Arts, Design and Media, teach courses in the Photography program. Related duties include participation in department meetings, department functions, curriculum development, staff development, lab maintenance, student advising, and other duties as assigned.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Educational Minimum Requirements Must have an Associate degree in Photography, Graphic Arts, or Visual Communication.
Occupational Experience Requirements Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience or the part-time equivalent (10,000 hours) of work experience as a Photographer in at least one of the following occupational titles: Photojournalist, Commercial Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Industrial Photographer, Biomedical Photographer, Audio Visual Photographer, Editorial Magazine Photographer. Must have mastery in the following areas (verified by portfolio submission): Studio lighting (strobe and tungsten), compositional skills, photographic reproduction techniques, photographic processing (color and B/W materials), digital original photography, digital editing of stills and video, video capture with a digital SLR camera.
- Must have a current professional quality portfolio.
- Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
- Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques.
- Must meet WTCS instruction certification requirements.
- Must meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards (if applicable).
- Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.

- Blackboard or other web-based course-management systems
- Technology-based Instruction - SMART systems, interactive displays, projectors, etc.
- Emerging Technologies - e.g., social networking applications
Supplemental Information
Hours/Location: This in-person position is a 0.5 FTE with hours based on course load. Hours and location vary based on enrollment and departmental need.
Salary: Listed up to the midpoint of the range; placement is based on years of experience, internal salary equity, and review of the applicant’s background as listed on the job application.

Interview: Selected candidates are required to prepare and present an interactive theory lesson and a 10-minute simulated teaching demonstration, conducted in-person or online.
