Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid/Remote Considered)

Clearance Requirement: Current Secret clearance required (TS/SCI eligibility preferred)

Position Overview

XSITE LLC is seeking a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer II to support Test and Evaluation (T&E) activities for tactical communication systems. This position will play a key role in system characterization, performance testing, and optimization across complex RF and C4ISR platforms in support of Department of Defense (DoD) programs.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience debugging and validating RF systems, with a strong foundation in open systems architecture and modern waveform technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growing defense technology company with long-term programmatic stability and upward mobility.

Primary Responsibilities

Test & Evaluation (T&E)
  • Conduct performance, compliance, and requirements-based testing for RF components and subsystems within tactical communication environments.
  • Perform debugging, optimization, and integration of RF systems.
  • Analyze system behavior through test data and lab measurements, identifying root causes of issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Design and execute T&E plans, test procedures, and detailed reporting for RF systems.
System Characterization & Optimization
  • Support RF system development and sustainment efforts, focusing on link budget analysis, antenna performance, and waveform behavior.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to assess and optimize system performance in real-world operating conditions.
  • Assist in the validation of LPI (Low Probability of Intercept), LPD (Low Probability of Detection), and anti-jam capabilities.
Architecture & Compliance Support
  • Contribute to system designs that follow open architecture standards such as SOSA, CMOSS, OMS/UCI, and AMS GRA.
  • Support integration activities to ensure compatibility with mission-critical platforms and government reference architectures.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving standards in the RF and C5ISR domains and ensure engineering work aligns with DoD acquisition strategy.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, computing, applied science, management information systems, or a related technical field.
  • Current Secret clearance.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience (within the past 7 years) performing Test and Evaluation tasks, including:
    • Debugging, integration, and optimization of RF or tactical communication systems.
    • Characterization, performance testing, and compliance evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of RF systems, signal processing, antennas, and waveform technologies.
  • Proficiency in lab test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators, vector network analyzers).
Desired Qualifications
  • Current Top Secret clearance or eligibility for TS/SCI access, with history supporting TS programs.
  • Five (5) years of experience (within the past 10 years) with:
    • Open architecture standards like SOSA, CMOSS, OMS/UCI, or AMS GRA.
    • RF technologies involving LPD/LPI waveforms and anti-jam techniques in tactical communications.
