Base pay range

$85,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr

Technical Writer

We are seeking a talented and experienced Technical Writer with a strong background in software documentation and technical marketing to join our dynamic team. As a Technical Writer, you will create high-quality documentation and content that effectively communicates complex technical information to our users while contributing to our technical marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain accurate, well-structured, and user-friendly documentation, including user guides, technical specifications, API references, installation guides, tutorials, and troubleshooting guides for our software products.
  • Write concise and comprehensive release notes for software updates and new features, highlighting changes, bug fixes, and improvements to keep users informed and facilitate smooth upgrades.
  • Work with internal teams to gather information, clarify technical concepts, and ensure accuracy and completeness of the documentation.
  • Continuously review and enhance existing documentation to improve clarity, readability, and usability based on user feedback and evolving product features.
  • Contribute to the information architecture of the documentation and the house style guide.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Technical Writer in a software company, with a demonstrated track record of creating high-quality documentation for internal and external audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to organize information effectively, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle, including planning, sprints, releases, and retrospectives.
  • Proficient in writing clear and concise release notes to communicate software updates effectively and conveying the relevance of release updates to customers.
  • Experience with text-based markup such as Markdown or AsciiDoc is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with Git versioning and branching for collaborative documentation implementation and maintenance.
  • Proficient with command-line tools for Windows, macOS, or Linux.
  • Understanding of relational database applications, including database design, querying, and administration, to produce accurate and informative documentation.
  • A proactive and self-driven individual.
  • Experience with style guides such as the Google Developer Documentation Style Guide, Microsoft Style Guide.
  • Experience working with GitHub and its pull request review workflow.
