Technical Writer (San Jose, CA)
Pay: $49 - $53 per hour
Schedule: Onsite 3 days/week (Tuesdays and Thursdays required; third day flexible) | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation to support robotic automation applications and interfaces. This hybrid role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including engineers, roboticists, and deployment specialists to develop comprehensive Knowledge Base articles, user guides, and training materials for both internal and external audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and author technical content such as workflow descriptions, installation procedures, operating instructions, maintenance guides, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Conduct interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather detailed information and accurately document complex topics.
• Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, coordinating with designers and infrastructure teams for timely publishing and delivery.
• Define and segment content for different user roles, ensuring materials are tailored to the appropriate audiences.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing skills with the ability to simplify highly technical information into clear, accessible language.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with engineering, marketing, SMEs, and external partners.
• Experience in defining templates and formats for technical documentation and user guides.
• Proficiency in electronic publishing tools, including version control, organizing content hierarchies, integrating visuals (diagrams, images), and tagging/classifying information for targeted delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
