Overview

Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach course offerings throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. WWCC offers opportunities to teach at all campuses: Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, and online/remotely. Part-time/temporary adjunct positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students through extended learning, dual-credit, workplace learning, outreach learning, and personal enrichment programs. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis; qualified candidates who submit a complete application will be part of a standing pool drawn on as scheduling needs dictate. The current pool remains in effect until June 30, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place
  • Demonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment
  • Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter
  • Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions
  • Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback
  • Assign and submit grades based on evaluations and college policy
  • Maintain student records and grades in the College's LMS
  • Post and be available for a minimum of one (1) office hour per week
  • Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum
  • Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology
  • Utilize available technology appropriate to the assignment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Secondary Education, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Demonstrated proficiency teaching language development at the pre-college or secondary level (two years minimum); experience as a teaching assistant, adjunct, or community instructor may count
  • Commitment to promoting equitable access and educational achievement of diverse students
  • Remote-work eligibility: reside in WA, OR, ID, CA, IL, PA, or TX

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Education, Applied Linguistics, or related field
  • Knowledge of Career and College Readiness Standards for Adult Education
  • Experience in multi-level language acquisition settings
  • Experience teaching at a community college or secondary level
  • Experience using instructional technology and LMS tools (e.g., Zoom, digital whiteboards)
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, blended, online)
  • Experience working with diverse populations
