IDA Ireland . This is an exciting opportunity to join the North American team and help deliver new name investments in line with our new strategy, “Adapt Intelligently”. This role is based in the Chicago office, with responsibility for the Emerging Business portfolio. The successful applicant will be responsible for the sector across 13 US States, and report to the Midwest & South Territory Director. The Emerging Business team attracts new name investments and works across IDA’s key business sectors, collaborating with founders, C-suite executives, venture capitalists, and the private equity community. The team is responsible for delivering substantial new name investments and winning the next wave of unicorns. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to Ireland’s economic development and to work closely with C-Level Executives at some of the world’s most dynamic companies. Job Purpose
As a member of the North American Sales and Marketing team this role is to drive business opportunities and maximise investments of value and impact from the market. The role, which carries a high focus on new name delivery will involve working closely with colleagues in the market and with the Emerging Business Global Team. Key Tasks
Proactively identify and engage with target companies in the region with the potential to invest in Ireland, and win investments aligned with IDA strategy and targets. Actively manage a portfolio of target companies in the territory, in conjunction with the global team, utilizing Salesforce and other available tools as core components of the knowledge management process. Develop a robust pipeline of investments from the territory, converting them into investment approvals in close collaboration with the global team, aligning with the Division’s strategy and targets. Engage with and influence C-level executives to identify and secure job-creating investments for Ireland. Focus these engagements on offering client-centred solutions that align with the client’s needs and Ireland’s offerings, while actively marketing regional locations for all investments. Target and develop working relationship with decision makers in Venture Capital, Private Equity and Corporate VCs across the territory. Build a network of decision-makers, and influencers within companies and the broader stakeholder community across the territories. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and effectively communicate Ireland’s value proposition for the sector to US-based clients. Ensure IDA presence, including speaking at key events, at relevant industry fora and conferences. Develop and maintain senior level business and industry networks. Contribute to the organization and execution of Irish Government/Ministerial visits and other marketing programs as appropriate. Further activities
Actively develop and manage high-value industry networking opportunities across the territory to generate interest in investing in Ireland among early-stage companies. Elevate Ireland's profile across the territory and support the development of its brand reputation as a prime location for start-ups and high-growth companies to scale internationally from. Capture and share relevant marketplace sectoral intelligence with the global and North American teams to continuously strengthen regional, territorial, and sectoral strategies for winning new investment opportunities for Ireland. Operate as part of a cohesive team within the Midwest & South Territory, the wider North American team, and the Emerging Business global team. Ensuring dignity, respect and equality are applied throughout the organisation and that a work life balance in the workplace is supported as much as possible. Track record of success in FDI related business development and client management. Experience, or a demonstrated understanding of the sales process and how it relates to IDA’s business. Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to fluently deliver complex presentations and 1-2-1 high level client engagement. Personality and capability to build relationships at senior executive level in North American companies. Ability to work well under pressure, flexibly and independently on own initiative. A relevant Level 8 third level business/sector related degree recognised on the National Qualification Framework is essential. Full driving licence is essential. Familiarity of using social media/digital marketing as a sales enabler is also desirable. Contracts will be for an initial period of 3 years. Depending on the experience of the successful candidate and in advance of commencing the new role, tailored induction and development programmes will be put in place to support the successful candidate.
