General Summary & Scope

The Specialty Artist - MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine needs, assisting with selection and purchase of merchandise, and maintaining store standards including cleanliness and replenishment. They represent Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand to guests and support the Experience Manager (EM) through performance, people, and process. This position requires professional makeup artistry skills, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and shrink.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, maintain an active preferred guest list, and follow up on guest inquiries.
• Greet and engage every guest, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products and/or services.
• Conduct personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to MAC and Ulta Beauty brand standards.
• Study Skill Certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within the required timeframe.
• Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives within the brand and across all departments.
• Book appointments for services and support in-store events that deliver an exceptional guest experience while meeting MAC sales goals.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services and communicate benefits to guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, guests, and colleagues.
• Promote the benefits of the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app to guests.
• Maintain and update an active MAC brand clientele portfolio.
• Serve as a brand ambassador, sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, and MAC philosophies with staff and guests, including the Back to MAC program.
• Maintain strong relationships with MAC brand partners through trainings and in-store events.
• Participate in ongoing brand and category trainings to drive MAC brand sales.
• Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.

Process

• Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards; follow dress code.
• Drive sales by keeping work areas replenished, tested, and maintained per hygiene standards.
• Maintain store and MAC area cleanliness, participate in displays, inventory, and shipments using company processes and tools.
• Protect assets by following loss-prevention practices and provide exceptional guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma preferred
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license as required by state law

Experience

• Cosmetics artistry experience preferred

Skills

• Strong sales, product, and service competencies
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle guest concerns while prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting
