Marshall Industries, a leading Audio Video integration company established in 1975, is hiring an Audio-Visual Commissioning Engineer for our Salt Lake location. Responsibilities
- Plan and execute device configuration, signal-flow validation, and functional testing; lead FAT (factory acceptance testing), SAT (site acceptance testing), UAT (user acceptance testing), and punch-list through final acceptance.
- Serve as the customer-dedicated technical point of contact, coordinate with installers, PMs, engineers, programmers, other trades, and end users.
- Produce accurate, complete closeout packages: as-builts/redlines, IP/VLAN tables, firmware version documentation, DSP/control files, training records, O&M manuals.
- Provide on-site/remote support, proactive health checks, and post-go-live tuning; maintain change logs and version control.
- Apply customer and Marshall standards; continuously improve test plans, checklists, and templates.
Core Skills (Required)
- Audio DSP & AEC: routing, gain staging, automixing, echo control, gating, noise management, room tuning.
- Networking for AV: multicast/IGMP, QoS/DSCP, VLANs, DHCP/static plans; comfort with Wireshark and discovery tools.
- Troubleshooting: triage across audio, video, control, and network layers; root-cause analysis and implement a solution.
- Loudspeaker optimization: EQ, crossovers, delays, level/balance; verification with measurement mics/analyzers.
- Video systems: EDID/HDCP basics, distribution, display/projector config, cameras, USB/UC endpoints.
- Documentation discipline: redlines, serialized device lists, IP schemes, change tracking.
- Tooling: Q-SYS Designer, Dante Controller, Wireshark, manufacturer config apps (e.g., Shure/Sennheiser/Biamp/Extron/Crestron), measurement tools (e.g., Smaart/REW) or equivalents.
Certifications
- Required (or within 6 months): Q-SYS Level 2; Q-SYS Quantum; Q-SYS Control & UCI; Q-SYS Vision Suite; Dante Level 2.
- Preferred: AVIXA CTS/CTS-I; Dante Level 3; manufacturer-specific (Crestron NVX/DM, Extron XTP, Biamp Tesira); OSHA-10; lift/scissor certification.
Work Conditions
- Regular travel between customer sites; occasional after-hours cutovers.
- Lift ~50 lbs; work on ladders/lifts; follow PPE/site safety.
- Valid driver’s license; background check per customer requirement.
