Responsibilities

  • Electronic Resources Management: Oversee entire subscription life cycle of electronic resources; manage and negotiate license agreements and contract renewals with internal and external constituents. Maintain positive relationships with vendors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Library Services and Library Business Manager to maintain budget areas for databases and journal subscriptions.
  • Discovery Layer: Serve as lead for OCLC WorldCat Discovery Services. Maintain configuration in OCLC Worldshare Management System for subscribed resources.
  • Integrated Library System: Serve as system administrator for the WMS integrated library system. Provide statistical reporting for usage assessment as needed.
  • Manage and update borrowing and lending settings in various ILL software and websites, including OCLC. Create and maintain data, consortia groups and paths, schedules, lending policies, and other information, and access and update as appropriate.
  • Train and supervise students to perform bibliographic searching, verify citations, determine holding libraries, and navigate ILL management software and bibliographic tools of moderate complexity.
  • Proxy Server and URL Link Resolver: Maintain campus EZProxy server and OCLC WorldCat Discovery link resolver.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve technical problems related to access and maintenance of subscribed resources. Work with campus Information Technology Services department to ensure subscribed resources work properly on current hardware and software configurations.
  • Periodicals: Coordinate selection, acquisitions, and cataloging of print/digital subscriptions in collaboration with the other professional librarians.
  • Provide research assistance, information literacy sessions, and collection development for assigned subject areas in the library's liaison program.
  • Take part in professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience:
    • Master's degree in library/information science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association.
    • 2+ years of library experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with electronic resource industry standards (COUNTER, NISO Standards), usage assessment, and other best practices preferred.
    • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Technology Skills:
    • Excellent computer skills with MS Office Suite, Google Drive, and related programs.
    • Knowledge of integrated library systems, discovery layers, proxy servers, and library databases preferred.
  • Human Relations Skills:
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Effective oral and written communication.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently as required.
    • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies in library services, information technology and information literacy.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Shift changes and/or weekend work may be required by your supervisor based on departmental and University needs.
