Meteorologist CBS Television Stations Job at Paramount Pictures in Fort Worth

Overview

KTVT-TV, the CBS owned and operated station in Dallas-Fort Worth, is seeking a Meteorologist with experience in a severe weather market. The ideal candidate must have superior forecasting and storytelling skills and the ability to produce easy-to-understand visuals, maps, and graphics to communicate the weather story to customers every day on air, online, and on social media platforms. The successful candidate will also produce weather content, work with a team of meteorologists, and implement station strategy. Writing and preparing forecasts; producing graphics to tell the weather story across multiple platforms; and maintaining a strong social media presence are important responsibilities. The candidate will periodically write and report weather-related content for newscasts.

Responsibilities

• Produce weather content and graphics to tell the weather story across multiple platforms (air, online, and social media).
• Work with a team of meteorologists and implement station strategy.
• Write and prepare forecasts; produce graphics to communicate the weather story.
• Maintain a strong social media presence and post weather content daily.
• Periodically write and report weather-related content for newscasts.

Qualifications

• On-air weather casting experience within a TV station.
• A degree in meteorology or related science.
• Strong writing skills for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Strong social media skills.
• Ability to create forecasts that reinforce the First Alert Brand for CBS News Texas.
• Ability to use augmented reality in weather segments is a bonus.
• Ability to provide continuous live severe weather coverage across all programs.
• Write daily weather blogs and post weather content on social media platforms.

Additional Qualifications

• B.S. Degree or equivalent experience in Meteorology or Earth Sciences preferred.
• Proficient in weather graphics production.
• Ability to live-field report and write packages.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.
• At least 5 years of experience on-air in weather casting and weather producing preferred.
• Ability to shoot and edit video preferred.
• WSI weather system knowledge and ability to employ all functions on multiple platforms preferred.
