Meteorologist (CBS Television Stations) Job at Paramount Pictures in Fort Worth

Overview

KTVT-TV, the CBS owned and operated station in Dallas-Fort Worth, is seeking a Meteorologist with experience in a severe weather market. Ideal candidate must have superior forecasting and storytelling skills, with the ability to produce easy-to-understand visuals, maps, and graphics to communicate the weather story to customers every day on air, online and on social media platforms.

Responsibilities

• Produce weather content and forecasts; develop graphics to tell the weather story across multiple platforms (on air, online, and social media).
• Write and prepare forecasts; produce weather-related graphics and visuals; communicate weather information clearly to viewers.
• Collaborate with a team of meteorologists and contribute to station strategy.
• Periodically write and report weather-related content for newscasts.

Qualifications

• On-air weather casting experience within a TV station.
• A degree in meteorology or related science (B.S. degree or equivalent in Meteorology or Earth Sciences preferred).
• Strong writing skills for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Strong social media skills.
• Ability to create forecasts that reinforce the First Alert Brand for CBS News Texas.
• Ability to use augmented reality in weather segments is a bonus.
• Ability to provide continuous live severe weather coverage across all programs.
• Write daily weather blogs and post weather content on social media platforms.
• Proficient in weather graphics production.
• Ability to live field report and write packages.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.
• At least 5 years of on-air weather casting and weather producing experience preferred.
• Ability to shoot and edit video preferred.
• WSI weather system knowledge and ability to employ all functions on multiple platforms preferred.
