Overview The Account Director position is a leadership role for an innovative PR agency. This role requires a visionary, creative leader with 7+ years of experience growing teams and delighting clients. TheAccount Director will lead 4 to 5 teams, overseeing the development of high-level strategy with clients and ensuring the team delivers successful media strategies. The role includes new business development and operational leadership. As a member of senior management, you will mentor, manage and lead by example across account teams on client management, quality assurance, staff development and strategic guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Media/Influencer Relations: maintain strong relationships with business, broadcast and influencer media and guide staff to develop the same.
Strategic use of social media channels to engage and support campaigns.
Ongoing media engagement for the agency (e.g., blog Q&A, lunch talks, etc.).
Experience measuring the ROI of communications activities.
Experience with social media influencer engagement, content campaigns, and media coverage amplification.
Client Service/Management: deliver exemplary service for specified clients, build strong client relationships, and understand clients’ business, competitors and industry needs.
Develop strategic communications plans, identify key messages and audiences, and ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Manage account financials, hours vs. fees, and ensure accurate monthly client billing and expense recovery.
Proactively communicate with clients on status of deliverables and budget; identify opportunities for organic growth and hit revenue targets.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with media; stay abreast of market trends and client needs.
Lead execution of programs, including writing/editing, media relations, social media, digital communications and crisis work as determined appropriate by the account.
Be an ambassador for the agency and mentor junior staff to elevate development.
Writing Proficiencies: generate campaign plans and edit submissions, press releases, fact sheets, bios, pitches and related materials; produce and assemble materials as needed.
Professional and timely client communication; develop creative, successful pitches.
Agency Operations: manage 2 direct reports, assist in goal development, and conduct regular reviews; participate in new business processes and target identification; support networking and team leadership; uphold a respectful and professional attitude; mentor and develop teams; support flexible work policies; contribute to Highwire blog.
Self Development: set quarterly goals with principals, track progress, prioritize responsibilities by impact and timelines, drive projects independently and meet deadlines.
Requirements
At least 7 years PR agency experience.
Strong academic record with emphasis on English and/or Business.
Core consumer brand PR background with knowledge of corporate PR and crisis management.
Experience running a reactive and proactive press office and handling inquiries.
Experience measuring ROI of communications activities.
Experience with social media influencer engagement, content campaigns, and media amplification.
Strong publicity skills and understanding of media/editorial requirements.
Creative and innovative thinking with a wide network across national, consumer, business and regional media.
Proven ability to deliver impactful PR campaigns from inception through to delivery with supporting results.
Ability to build relationships internally and externally, engaging at all levels.
Superior people and communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills.
