Data Visualization Specialist
The Data Visualization Specialist advances Bellevue College's data-informed decision-making by creating and maintaining interactive and meaningful data visualizations for diverse audiences across the College. This position ensures that data is accurately represented and easily accessible for operational, strategic, and compliance purposes. In addition to dashboard development, the specialist contributes to SQL development for reporting and analytics across financial, human resources, and student services domains within the College's PeopleSoft enterprise resource platform (ERP). Building strong partnerships with subject matter experts, this role ensures a shared understanding of data and facilitates training opportunities to empower end-users in navigating dashboards and interpreting data. Success in this role requires analytical expertise, collaboration, and a solutions-oriented mindset. The specialist works closely with the Effectiveness, Research & Analytics team and administrative divisions to produce actionable insights and promote a culture of data literacy across the College. Selected candidates must possess valid authorization to work in the United States prior to the start of employment. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this position. Position Salary Range: $76,113/year - $110,364/year We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Generous benefits are offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid holidays, sick, and vacation plans; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This position may be eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act; salaries below the is eligible for overtime pay. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experience constructing engaging, informative, and interactive dashboards using data visualization software. Demonstrated experience using SQL programming language with multiple relational databases. Demonstrated commitment and ability to present data for evaluating and addressing inequities. Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining cross-functional partnerships. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience working with diverse colleagues and/or students in a collaborative and inclusive environment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an educational context. Experience working with budget and finance data. Demonstrated knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics. Experience with Tableau development and Tableau Server. Experience with data integrations and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Experience navigating large relational databases such as student information systems (SISs) or enterprise resource platforms (ERPs). Experience accessing and interpreting external data sources.
