Overview and experience described reflect the role of a MAC Specialty Artist focused on delivering exceptional guest service, makeup artistry, and brand-aligned selling within Ulta Beauty stores.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store targets related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and shrink as set by Ulta Beauty.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, engage with guests, and follow up on inquiries.
• Provide exceptional service by greeting guests, personalizing consultations, offering samples, and recommending complementary products and/or services.
• Conduct personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations in line with MAC and Ulta Beauty brand standards.
• Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete applicable skill sets within the time frames set by Ulta Beauty and MAC.
• Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives and inform guests accordingly.
• Book appointments for services and assist with in-store events to deliver an exceptional guest experience while meeting MAC and store sales goals.
• Keep informed about industry trends, products and services, and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates and guests.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program with guests on the sales floor.
• Maintain and update an active MAC brand clientele portfolio.
• Serve as a brand ambassador, sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trends, and MAC-related programs to store associates, brand partners, and guests, including the “Back to MAC” program.
• Maintain strong relationships with MAC brand partners through required trainings and in-store events.
• Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education, to enable professional development and drive MAC brand sales.
• Collaborate with managers and associates to help grow the business.

Process

• Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow dress code and brand assets as directed.
• Drive sales by keeping work area replenished, testers available, and aligned with hygiene standards.
• Maintain store and MAC operational standards, including involvement in recycling programs and keeping areas clean (salesfloor, restrooms, cashwrap, backroom, break area).
• Assist with merchandise resets, planograms, displays, inventory procedures, and shipments using brand-provided tools.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices while delivering guest service.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma is preferred.
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.

Experience

• Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.

Skills

• Strong sales, product, and service competency.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to handle guest concerns proactively and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attend brand-sponsored trainings.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility and standing; ability to bend, reach, pull, push, and twist during shift.
• Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. and handling of objects during shift.
