Assistant Children’s Librarian, Wayland Free Public Library (Wayland)

The Wayland Public Library is looking for a friendly, creative, self-motivated, flexible, customer service‑oriented champion to join the Wayland Team as the next Assistant Children’s Librarian.

Under the direction of the Head of Youth Services, the Assistant Children’s Librarian provides library services for babies through teens, families, caregivers, and teachers. The Assistant Children’s Librarian offers story times and craft programs, helps plan and run the annual summer reading program, provides readers’ advisory, assists with collection development, creates flyers and displays, circulates library materials, and conducts outreach to schools. Supervises the Children’s Room in the absence of the Head of Youth Services.

Responsible for keeping current with emerging technologies as they relate to youth services. Promotes our programs and services by helping support the Library’s web and social media presence.

Responsibilities

• Provide services for babies through teens, families, caregivers, and teachers.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree in Library Science or Children’s Literature. Will consider candidates who are within six months of attaining a graduate degree.

Experience: Knowledge of children/teen literature and experience in children’s and teen programming. Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, Canva, and social media. Knowledge of Sierra preferred.

$59,015.00 - $76,955.00/year

Salary Notes

Plus excellent benefit package. This is a union position.
