Position: Public Relations Manager Location: Dallas

Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer

Summary/Objective

This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects, bring creative ideas and also refocus and re-prioritize as the need arises. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with national and regional media.
• Develop and manage a media contacts database.
• Complete monthly phone calls and e-mail communication in conjunction with editorial calendars to get placements of the companys products.
• Solicit involvement in editorial features on a national, regional, and international basis.
• Write press releases, story proposals, and internal documents in support of strategic brand positioning.
• Write bios and backgrounds for company executives to support getting business editorial in related industry trade publications and mainstream media.
• Lead communication to the internal audience and influencers in the design community through social media.
• Act as the companys online eyes and ears and respond online when appropriate.
• Participate in planning to develop solutions to combine PR activities with other marketing programs, such as showroom promotions and on site events, advertising, social media, etc.
• Develop Paid Media plan with print publications (inclusive of digital and event programming) including: writing the RFPs, negotiating rates, updating due date calendars and coordinating material submissions.
• Plan showroom events with designers, third party represented manufacturers and internal teams to represent our companies in the best light by coordinating with vendors to execute exquisite food, music, dcor, invitations, etc. as well as RSVPs.
• Work with marketing team on social media strategy and post for the brands where appropriate.
• Develop relationships with influencers and negotiate paid and product deals in exchange for social media inclusion.
• Manage budget for events, media and other PR related cost items including but not limited to subscriptions.
• Report KPIs for PR efforts and demonstrate success at getting earned media.
• Oversee PR relationships with International groups in UK, Italy, Germany, India and others as needed.
• Lead writer for our blog, The Spill, which requires outreach to designers for quotes, recommending relevant topics and sourcing assets.
• Submit new collections for various design awards.
• Liaise with design centers regarding market day events, new collection promotions, and newsletter submissions.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related discipline
• 5-7 years experience in a Public Relations agency, shelter category publication, ad agency, or marketing firm PR environment assisting in the implementation of marketing programs in an in-house or agency environment
• Advanced written, oral, and presentation skills
• Ability to develop schedules and respond to deadlines for multiple projects at one time
• Technical knowledge of popular PR software and emerging media is a big plus
• Travel required, both domestically and internationally
• May require physical agility to work on outdoor location photoshoots
