Social Media Associate Volunteer — Remote, United States Aeon for Ocean is a U.S.-based, volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to educating and influencing the younger generation to take a leadership role in ocean conservation. Position Description
We are seeking an experienced, creative Social Media Associate Volunteer to join our organization. This role will be responsible for developing impactful social media strategies and creating breakthrough creative content for all of Aeon for Ocean’s (AFO) social media channels. This individual will direct all social media activities to help attract and engage new and existing supporters and drive acquisition of AFO donors and advocates. Your Impact on our Mission
This position is critical to our mission and the key responsibilities you will perform as a part of our Team include, but are not limited to: Use social media to strategically build brand awareness among existing and prospective audiences and drive growth of followers Develop social media campaigns, creative assets, and marketing plans that connect with supporters and new audiences, maximizing engagement and social sharing Drive growth of social media fundraising with tools such as Facebook Fundraisers Plan and produce a social media calendar. Manage messaging/posts and maintain effective, cohesive, and engaging brand messaging Lead the development and implementation of content across text, video, images, GIFs, animation, live action, and other formats that suit the platform Plan and manage campaign executions on time, on budget, and to scope What You’ll Bring To The Team
Along with a passion for our mission, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: Understanding of how to use social media to strategically build brands and generate attention Experience using diverse social media platforms and in increasing followers and audience engagement/community outreach Strong writing, copy-editing, and proofreading skills Creativity and experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and drive action, particularly on Facebook and LinkedIn Passion for ocean conservation and youth leadership; motivated to grow Aeon for Ocean’s audience awareness Self-direction, effective oral communication, and ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside the department Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team Prior experience with a non-profit organization is preferred Location within the 48 contiguous United States is highly preferred Applicants must also be able to attend periodic meetings during regular business hours in the Central Standard Time Zone. We are looking for someone who can dedicate a few hours per week and commit for at least 6 months (though longer is welcome). Why Join Our Team
