Hampton Inn Albuquerque-University-Midtown - Director Sales & Marketing OEM

Director of Sales & Marketing-Full Service with direct oversight of planning and managing the overall sales and marketing for a Full Service hotel. The role aims to achieve optimal occupancy, growth in existing accounts, and generating new business to maximize total revenue and meet/exceed hotel profit objectives. Oversees day-to-day operations of the hotel sales division including direct sales efforts, follow-up, and sales administration and training. Ultimately responsible for recommending the sales forecast, marketing, advertising, sales plans, programs and annual budget for no more than one Full Service hotel; manages within approved plans and budgets. Management-level associates are expected to work as needed to complete job responsibilities; overtime applies for OEM associates and is calculated accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue.
  • Develop, recommend, implement and manage the division's annual budget and the advertising, public relations marketing and sales plans and programs for the hotel to maximize rate, occupancy and food & beverage opportunities, ensuring revenue and profit goals.
  • Proactively conduct outside sales calls, sales tours and entertain clients.
  • Understand the content reflected in contracts and how to negotiate terms therein.
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.
  • Monitor production of top accounts and evaluate market trends.
  • Adhere to Aimbridge Hospitality’s regulations, standards and metrics related to sales.
  • Meet or exceed individual goals and team budgeted metrics.
  • Train hotel staff to recognize and capitalize on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Manage Human Resources in the division to attract, retain and motivate employees; hire, train, develop, empower, coach, counsel, review performance and salaries, resolve problems, and terminate as appropriate.
  • Supervise Catering & Event Management Team to ensure budgets are met or exceeded.
  • Develop a working knowledge of hotel operations and policies across Sales, F&B, Front Office and Reservations.
  • Maintain visibility in the local community and industry organizations.
  • Attend and/or conduct meetings, and provide training as needed; communicate with internal departments to achieve initiatives.
  • Travel weekly as required.
  • Act on behalf of the General Manager in their absence and perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree with at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to negotiate, persuade, and influence managers, guests and corporate clients.
  • Experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing sales deployment.
  • Proficient in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organization and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact with and manage people from diverse backgrounds while solving problems and building a productive sales team.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales/marketing/hospitality principles and practices.
  • Ability to work well in high-pressure situations with composure and objectivity.
  • Ability to understand financial data and basic arithmetic.
