Primary Purpose

Assist in fulfilling college's mission of providing quality education that helps students achieve their goals. Aid students in their educational goals, assist faculty in their instructional and professional developmental goals, and assist community members in their life enrichment pursuits. ***This position is only open to Student Workers*** *3 to 20 hours per week*

Description of Essential Functions Check in items using county-wide computer system, check out items using county-wide computer system, shelve items using Library of Congress call number system, shelf read, assist patrons in locating items, filing, answering telephone, use photocopier, printers, computers, VCR, DVD, etc, dusting/cleaning, tape books for reinforcements, security strip books, magazines, DVDs, etc, run errands- newspaper, mail, etc, stamp withdrawn items, and other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be current degree-seeking student enrolled in at least 6 credits. Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. Must be eligible to receive

FWS based on financial need and eligibility requirements determined by FAFSA.

Students in this job will need the following skills. You should be able to do these, or show that you can learn how (with or without reasonable accommodation):

Ability to read and use the English language sufficient to read, understand, and correctly use information in procedure manuals; various reference sources; search effectively by author/title/subject in the online public assess catalog. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter; including the ability to describe tasks performed in a procedure manual format and to communicate with students, staff, and other libraries. Ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives, and abilities. Ability to convey a pleasant and helpful attitude by using excellent interpersonal and communication skills to mediate stressful and/or emotional situations.
