JOB DUTIES: The high school library paraprofessional is responsible for: - the maintenance, organization, and operation of the school library and multi-media materials - providing supervision of students during non-instructional time - managing distribution of student loaner i-pads, keeping i-pad damage database up to date, and related procedures - will coordinate with the Shields Elementary, Havens Elementary & SVMS library parapros.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum 60 hours college credit OR Associates Degree preferably in an area related to children/child development and/or education OR State approved proficiency (passing score on SAT, ETS Parapro Assessment, ^MTTC Basic Skills Test or *Work Keys Assessment for Paraprofessionals (Work Keys must include passing Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Writing), experience working with children in groups preferred, correct proficiency in area of communication skills both oral and written, and demonstrate competency in basic math and in computer proficiency, and if needed, have to be willing to be trained in first aid and CPR, and be willing to attend required training sessions. (*Work Keys Assessment must have previously been taken and include all (3) components. This is no longer an option to currently take. ^MTTC Basic Skills Test must have been passed prior to 2022-this is also no longer an option to currently take) -Technology skills essential - preferably Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Biblionix (pertinent library software) - Good organizational skills required - Ability to type, handle filing, and record keeping - The ideal candidate will support our school's mission, goals, and vision; value community; bring a spirit of enthusiasm and energy, and be willing to take thoughtful initiative in a collaborative setting. We are looking for applicants who are independent, creative, and who can design and develop library programs that inspire curiosity, inquiry and a lifelong love of reading
