Overview

Department: Library Services Department. Organizational Unit: Library Services Palm Bay Library. Position Type: Permanent. Full Time/Part Time: Part Time. Close date: 09/12/2025. $13.99 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Palm Bay Library. Part-time/25 hours per week. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings and weekends. Performs experienced office and clerical work providing customer service in the Circulation section of the library through data entry, processing, and maintenance of fines, fees, files, and records.

Responsibilities

  • Performs experienced office and clerical work providing customer service in the Circulation section of the library through data entry, processing, and maintenance of fines, fees, files, and records.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of paid or volunteer experience in general library work; OR six (6) months of clerical or retail work which includes customer service skills.

Special Requirements

  • When usage statistics change, library employees may be assigned to another library.
  • In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Physical Requirements

  1. The employee must be able to:
    • LIFT: 20 lbs.
    • CARRY: 20 lbs.
    • PUSH: 50 lbs. or more
    • PULL: 50 lbs. or more
  2. In an eight hour day, the employee may have to:
    • STAND: 5 - 8 hours
    • WALK: 5 - 8 hours
    • SIT: None
    • DRIVE: None
  3. The employee must repetitively perform:
    • Simple grasping (e.g. pen, screwdriver); Fine manipulation (e.g. writing, wiring); Pulling; Pushing
  4. The employee must be able to:
    • Bend; Balance; Kneel; Reach; Stoop
  5. The employee must have:
    • Good near vision; Good hearing; Good speech
  6. Other necessary physical activities/traits
