This role is part of a broader effort to reimagine music programming across platforms and brands, including the legacy of KSBJ and the national reach of WayFM. You will help lead music curation that blends art, science, and technology, while preserving the distinct identities of each brand so that every song and rotation serves listeners uniquely.
Essential Functions
- Music Direction: manage music direction and maintenance for song rotations and imaging for key Hope Media Group brands; continually pursue understanding of local vs. national audience consumption.
- Music Screening and Preparation: screen new music and make recommendations; prepare and organize research for weekly music meetings; lead label relationships, including music tracking and logistics for artist appearances and interviews.
- Daily Scheduling: prepare and manage daily music and program logs for KSBJ and WayFM; load, schedule, and manage metadata and rotations of imaging/promos; ensure promo counts are accurate for different departments; integrate music research; compile music data for KSBJ and WayFM to build stories on future trends.
- Administration and Support: oversee Word of Hope, Word on the Way, Community Beat/Vignettes; manage the KSBJ music panel on Facebook; act as primary contact to handle G Selector and/or Zetta issues with engineering and RCS support.
Programming
- Participate in Programming & Promotions team activities; lead written communications for the programming team (Weekly Update, Sheet, Live Cards) to support programming initiatives.
- Air Staff Management: schedule and confirm on-air staff for shows, DJ/MCs for events, board operators for remotes, fill-in DJs, manage the Part-Time & Fill-In DJ calendar; back up to ensure Severe Weather protocol and fundraising runs smoothly; be available to respond to staff or third-party organizations as needed.
Producer/Editor
- Edit content of songs, imaging, promos; back-up editor/producer/board operator for Community Beat and Word of Hope; perform other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated Faith
- Participate in prayer and spiritual activities with coworkers and listeners as appropriate; resolve conflicts with Christian principles; participate in ministry drives and Bible studies; attend Hope Huddles & Prayer Huddles; support donors and ministry goals.
Non-Essential Functions
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
- 5–7 years of professional radio experience with at least 3 years in Programming (PD, MD, APD) and on-air; hands-on knowledge of music scheduling and automation systems (G-Selector, Zetta); experience with Adobe Audition, Windows OS, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with music research and audience testing; on-air fundraising/drive experience is a plus.

- Strategic understanding of Contemporary Christian Music and its evolving role in culture; insight into KSBJ and WayFM audiences; ability to navigate legal and technical aspects of radio; expertise in music programming fundamentals; strong data and software proficiency; ability to build relationships with labels; strong attention to detail; time management and deadline discipline; strong written and verbal communication; leadership and mentorship abilities; team collaboration; servant leadership with a solid Christian faith and active church involvement; willingness to work beyond regular hours as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Immediate supervision of a small group of employees; participate in hiring decisions, performance appraisals, and policy enforcement.
Working Conditions
- Travel: occasional industry conferences or education opportunities; Nights/Weekends/Holidays: occasional; Physical Requirements: light work with typical office-radio environment; capable of visual and auditory tasks and manual dexterity for typing and equipment use.

Salary
