Dogs on Deployment is a national non-profit organization that connects military service members with volunteers willing to board their pets during deployments and other military commitments. Founded by a Marine Corps officer and her husband, our mission is to ensure that military pets have a safe, loving home while their owners serve our country. Since 2011, we have helped thousands of military members and their pets, providing peace of mind and support during challenging times. 5-10 hours per week We are seeking a motivated and passionate Public Relations Volunteer to help elevate Dogs on Deployment’s national profile. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about media relations and wants to see our heartfelt reunions gain the national attention they deserve. Responsibilities
Develop and execute PR strategies to increase awareness of Dogs on Deployment. Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials. Cultivate relationships with media contacts and pitch stories to various media outlets. Monitor media coverage and create reports on PR efforts. Assist in managing social media accounts to enhance public engagement. Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging across all channels. Requirements
Passion for supporting military service members and their pets. Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. Experience in public relations, communications, or a related field. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with social media platforms and media monitoring tools. Availability to commit 5-10 hours per week to this role. Benefits
