Position Summary
What you'll do
- Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, providing associate recognition, and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace.
- Recruiting and developing qualified associates to meet staffing needs and achieve company growth potential.
- Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results.
- Identifies improvement opportunities and demonstrates adaptability while promoting continuous learning.
- Leads and develops teams by teaching, training, listening to associates; touring stores and providing feedback; communicating with all levels of associates regarding store operations, technology, initiatives, merchandising, and company direction; introducing and leading company change efforts; and providing guidance to implement business solutions.
- Provides superior customer service by following the One Best Way service model; supporting customer service initiatives and community programs; resolving customer needs and issues; developing and implementing action plans to correct deficiencies; and leading process improvements for a high quality customer experience.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports the mission, values, and ethics by applying related action plans and an Open Door Policy.
- D drives financial performance by reviewing P&L statements, assisting in budgeting and forecasting, controlling expenses, ensuring effective merchandise presentation, managing inventory flow, and mitigating shrink to achieve sales and profit goals.
- Promotes a culture of belonging, teamwork, integrity, and customer focus through the Walmart values.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
- For facilities that sell firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check and Firearms Authorized Training may be required.
- For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
- Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University; Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
- General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
