Position Summary
Coordinate all activities of the library circulation department, including supervision of classified staff and student workers and management of circulation functions within the integrated library system (ILS).
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operation of the circulation department including, but not limited to, circulation functions within the online integrated library system; circulation accounts, supplies, and materials; staff projects including equipment maintenance, reserve items, organization of the library collection, fines and fees, and materials inventory; circulation policies and procedures; recommendations for purchase and maintenance of circulating equipment (cameras, laptops, etc.); patron issues and conflicts related to circulation of materials; and campus Lost and Found including collection, documentation, and disposal of items.
- Coordinate the supervision, hiring, and training of classified staff and student workers and evaluate their performance.
- Establish weekly and monthly library calendars and coordinate employee schedules to adequately cover all operating hours.
- Maintain statistical information on library patron usage and circulation of materials. Prepare annual circulation report.
- Promote and supervise high-quality customer service practices.
- Manage building electronic security system and cameras.
- Work nights, weekends as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with other library departments on projects as required.
Qualifications
- 4 Year / Bachelors.
- Previous library experience or relevant coursework.
- Demonstrated analytical, customer service, organizational, planning, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Supervisory experience with proven success leading and managing a team or office.
- Proficiency with standard office computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Zoom, etc.) and experience with, or proven ability to learn, one or more library applications (Library OPAC, ILL, LibGuides, library discovery layer, etc.).
- Dependability, accuracy, and demonstrated ability to work well with the public.
- Capable oral, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diversified university community and user population; ability to work cooperatively on group and individual projects.
- Flexible and adaptable to new experiences.
Supplemental Information
This is an 11 month contract. Position is contingent on funding.
