Join the Nation's Most Innovative Weather Broadcasting Team! The University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications is seeking a dynamic Multimedia Meteorologist to join our weather team. This role contributes to live and produced severe weather coverage across every public television and radio station in Florida and South Carolina, covering extreme severe weather and environmental conditions. You will connect with a broad, multi-market and multi-state audience, bringing clarity and urgency to weather reporting across broadcast, digital, and social media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present daily forecast products for radio, TV, digital, social, and mobile platforms.
  • Deliver compelling weather content across a diverse media portfolio, including WRUF-AM/FM/TV, WUFT-TV/FM, the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) and affiliated social media platforms and partner networks.
  • Provide content on all platforms, interpreting weather data, reports, maps, and models to create reliable forecasts.
  • Mentor UF students through the Meteorologists-In-Training Program and immersive experiences.
  • Proficiency in using Baron graphics (or other technology) is required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Baron graphics systems or related weather computer programs.
  • Understanding of how weather information and public safety information is shared via social media, digital, and web channels.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism/communications with strong meteorology knowledge.
  • Two years of broadcasting experience and science/environmental reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to think creatively.
  • National Weather Association (NWA) or American Meteorological Society (AMS) Seals.
