Overview
Technical Writer role at Siemens Healthineers. This full-time position is in the Package Engineering and Product Labeling organization and is responsible for product labeling for immuno and chemistry assays. You will join a team of technical writers collaborating with cross-functional teams to produce high-quality documentation that is reusable, compliant with regulatory and company guidelines, and appropriate for its intended audience.
The role requires general guidance on new assignments with day-to-day work completed with minimal instruction. It emphasizes reuse and single-source content opportunities and close collaboration with internal teams and SMEs.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit instructions for use for medical device immunoassays and chemistry assays, using an XML content management system, ensuring all deliverables align with project plans.
- Develop documentation using XML authoring and other tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, MS Office) as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with medical device regulations (FDA and international guidelines) and good documentation practices.
- Manage end-to-end document processes: check-in/check-out, version control, review/approval, and release activities.
- Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and SMEs to research and develop content for instructions for use.
- Write for translations and extract key information from clinical data and reports to support accurate labeling.
- Maintain proficiency with electronic document control, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; stay highly organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Work effectively in remote/virtual environments and collaborate appropriately with team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Excellent English writing skills and demonstrated ability to write English for translations.
- Proven technical writing experience in Life Sciences with strong XML content management knowledge, including reuse and single-sourcing.
- Experience with medical device labeling development and regulatory compliance.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work with cross-functional teams and SMEs.
- Understanding of clinical data and ability to extract key information for labeling.
- Experience with standard business applications and XML-based content management systems; familiarity with tools such as FrameMaker and InDesign is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, science, or related field required; a technical writing certification is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of direct technical writing experience in a medical device manufacturing environment.
- Expert level with current authoring tools; strong XML proficiency (experience with XML-based CMS and desktop publishing).
- Experience in regulated industries and a scientific background is a plus.
