Library Specialist, Part-time (30 hours)

Kelver and Davies Libraries

Do you have a heart for public service and a passion for connecting with library patrons in rural communities? Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a Library Specialist to welcome, assist, and empower patrons while providing outstanding, inclusive service across two locations. Based at Kelver Library in Byers, this role also supports Davies Library in Deer Trail, helping ensure both communities have access to trusted resources, technology, and meaningful connections.

About the Role
As a Library Specialist, you'll be on the front line of service, greeting visitors, answering questions, and guiding patrons in their use of library resources, technology, and collections. This role is central to creating a welcoming environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. You'll support the Kelver and Davies libraries by assisting with patron accounts, shelving and merchandising materials, promoting programs and services, and providing technology help. With a focus on responsive service and community connection, you'll help both libraries thrive as places where learning, discovery, and belonging come together.

Key Responsibilities
Patron Assistance and Materials Handling

  • Welcome and assist patrons with account inquiries, program information, advisory and reference needs
  • Support patrons with technology, devices, and library equipment
  • Promote library resources, events, and services in a positive and engaging way
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized, and clean library environment
  • Process, shelve, and merchandise materials while maintaining displays

Technology Assistance

  • Provide basic troubleshooting and support for library computers, copiers, printers, and AV equipment
  • Assist patrons with Microsoft Office, online databases, and e-resources
  • Connect patrons with staff for advanced technology needs

Learning and Development

  • Stay current on library resources, technology, and trends
  • Take initiative in developing new skills and sharing knowledge with patrons and colleagues
  • Support district-wide priorities and contribute to collaborative projects

Qualifications
Required:

  • One year of customer service, library, or education/teaching experience
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Basic skills in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Microsoft Edge and Teams
  • Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for learning in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to engage with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds

Preferred:

  • Experience working with children and teens
