Overview
Sierra7, Inc. is seeking a Visualization Lead who will design, develop, and oversee data and architecture visualizations that enable stakeholders to understand, analyze, and act on insights derived from the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General (VA OIG) Enterprise Architecture (EA) Modernization initiative. This role ensures complex technical and governance information is translated into clear, accurate, and impactful dashboards, reports, and models. The Visualization Lead will collaborate with architects, analysts, and program leaders to deliver visualizations that support decision-making, transparency, and performance monitoring. This is a TEMPORARY (6 months) part-time position that only requires 88 hours or less per month. The position is located in the Washington, DC area and onsite work will be necessary. Position Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of dashboards, visual models, and reports that communicate EA modernization progress, risks, and outcomes. Transform complex data, architecture frameworks, and governance processes into intuitive visual representations for technical and non-technical audiences. Establish visualization standards, templates, and best practices for program reporting and communication. Collaborate with analysts, architects, and program leaders to identify visualization requirements. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability of visual products across program stakeholders. Maintain and update visualization tools and repositories as modernization evolves. Leverage data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) to support decision dashboards. Contribute to leadership briefings, program deliverables, and training materials by integrating visualizations. Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards and plain language requirements. Requirements Proven experience leading visualization design for large-scale IT, enterprise architecture, or modernization initiatives. Strong proficiency with visualization and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent). Strong understanding of data modeling, enterprise architecture frameworks, and governance reporting. Excellent design, storytelling, and communication skills to translate complex information into accessible visuals. Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility and federal plain language standards. Experience with Agile/SAFe delivery and DevSecOps reporting dashboards, desired. Experience working with federal agencies, preferably VA, OIG, or oversight organizations, a plus. Ability to obtain and maintain public trust clearance Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in data visualization, information systems, design, or related field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data visualization, business intelligence, or enterprise reporting, ideally within federal programs.
