Introduction

Are you creatively driven, technically minded, and excited by live event production? Victory Pyrotechnics & Special Effects is seeking a multifaceted team member to support our creative operations—ranging from soundtrack development and show design to client engagement and on-site event execution.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in both the office and the field: scripting captivating pyrotechnic shows, producing powerful audio tracks, helping close deals, and occasionally loading gear onto a truck to bring it all to life.

About Victory Pyrotechnics & Special Effects

Based in the heart of Kansas, Victory is a premier production company dedicated to transforming events into unforgettable experiences using a combination of lighting, video, audio, pyrotechnics, and special effects.

We hire a team consisting of pyrotechnic field technicians, show designers, and logistics gurus who allow us to produce magical productions.

Job Summary

As a Pyro-Production Designer, you will play a critical role in the creative and technical development of our shows. You\'ll work closely with our operations and sales teams to develop synchronized pyrotechnic displays, design compelling audio tracks, and ensure logistical accuracy in Finale Design and Inventory software.

This is a collaborative role requiring both artistic vision and technical execution, often participating in design meetings, production calls, and field setup.

Responsibilities

  • Team Collaboration: Participate in design calls, creative reviews, and production briefings. Contribute technical and artistic feedback, adjusting designs in response to evolving concepts or client input.
  • Audio Track Production: Use professional Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) to edit, arrange, and master event soundtracks that establish the thematic tone and emotional pacing of the show. Deliver polished audio suitable for later choreography.
  • Finale 3D Production Development: Use Finale 3D and Finale Inventory to design scripted sequences that reflect client vision and event themes while meeting safety and regulatory standards. Oversee all phases of production preparation, including position layout from site maps, scripting, racking and address assignments, and real-time inventory management.
  • Effect Selection & Choreography: Apply a working knowledge of pyrotechnic devices and effect types to choose the right products for each moment. Strategically position effects for visual impact, timing precision, and safe site integration.
  • Show Documentation: Generate comprehensive production and product reports to support safe, efficient execution in the field. Quality Control: Review and test audio mixes and script files for timing accuracy and cue alignment.
  • Sales & Client Development: Support business growth by engaging with prospective clients, contributing to proposal development, and helping translate creative ideas into service offerings. Assist in preparing visual materials, estimates, and production concepts tailored to client goals and budget. Participate in sales meetings, demos, and client communications as needed.
  • Field Operations Support (10–30% of role depending on season): Serve as a Pyrotechnic Technician on live shows throughout the year. Responsibilities include material handling, setup, equipment testing, cue execution, teardown, and safe site cleanup, in alignment with our core field technician standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Willingness to work outdoors, travel occasionally, and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Available to work select evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in Finale 3D design software required.
  • Familiarity with Finale Inventory system strongly preferred.
  • Experience with DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) such as Reaper, Logic Pro, or Adobe Audition.
