Objective
The Proposal Writer I supports HORNE's process for developing high-quality proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and other client inquiries. Working closely with subject matter experts, marketing, and operations teams, this role plays a key part in communicating the organization's value proposition and supporting business development efforts. The Proposal Writer I helps ensure proposals are accurate, client-focused, and aligned with brand standards.

- Support the centralized proposal team and other key stakeholders in maintaining a streamlined proposal creation and writing process based on modern best practices.
- Assist with pursuit teams with clear communication on roles, responsibilities, and processes, consistently meeting deadlines, and leveraging each contributor's strengths to assemble compelling deliverables.
- Contribute to the writing and editing of proposal content, including RFP responses and supporting documents, with guidance from senior team members.
- Participate in proposal development meetings and help organize content for scope of work and approach sections.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather technical information and assist in drafting basic content.
- Help maintain centralized repositories of proposal materials, templates, and presentations to support team efficiency.
- Utilize AI tools to support the proposal writing process, including content generation, RFP analysis, customization, formatting, and quality control, to enhance efficiency, creativity, and compliance.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in proposal writing or a similar role.
- Beginning to working knowledge of proposal processes and business development.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail using Associate Press style.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working under general supervision with the ability to handle basic issues and refer complex matters to senior staff.
