Position Overview We are seeking a
Senior Communications Specialist
to support a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) program based in Washington, DC. This hybrid role combines remote work with on-site collaboration and requires limited travel (10–15 days annually).
The Senior Communications Specialist will lead the development and delivery of high-impact communication strategies that inform, engage, and align diverse stakeholders. You will partner directly with USACE leadership, Agile Group project teams, and external audiences to ensure clear, consistent, and compelling messaging across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and execution of strategic communication plans in support of USACE program objectives and Agile Group initiatives.
Develop, edit, and publish a wide range of communication products, including newsletters, press releases, reports, talking points, presentations, and digital content.
Provide senior-level support for stakeholder engagement, including preparation of briefings, speeches, and executive-level correspondence.
Ensure brand and message consistency across internal and external communication channels.
Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and clients to translate complex information into clear, accessible narratives.
Support internal communications to foster transparency, alignment, and knowledge sharing across Agile Group and client teams.
Track and analyze communication effectiveness using metrics, providing data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Stay current with industry trends, federal communication standards, and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of Federal Government experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
8+ years of professional communications experience, with at least 4 years in a senior, client-facing role
Prior experience supporting federal government programs, preferably USACE, DoD, or similar agencies
Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills with a proven ability to adapt content for diverse audiences
Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in hybrid and remote team environments
Preferred Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with SharePoint and other collaboration platforms
Graphic design and visual communication skills using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or Canva
Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite) and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
