American College of Surgeons . The Instructional Designer will support the area of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). This role collaborates with internal staff and external partners to create content for web-based courses, in-person workshops, and educational tools. The position will utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to build courses and measure training effectiveness. Working with content experts, this role will create a portfolio of coursework including practice exercises, knowledge checks, and other elements designed to drive knowledge retention for adult learners around the surgical care of patients. This exempt position reports to the Instructional Design Manager in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. It is based in the Chicago office with a hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remote. The anticipated salary range is $68,000 - $78,500 (commensurate with related experience). Applicants must submit a portfolio of work for consideration. Responsibilities

Develop design documents, storyboards, and scripts outlining instructional objectives, methods, and assessment plans; design learning interactions for presentations and webinars in consultation with the team. Execute instructional design plans using visual design and multimedia development skills to create engaging learning experiences. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design, develop, and deliver fully online and blended courses, and technology-enhanced instructional materials focused on learner-centered experiences. Work with the project management lead to ensure quality deliverables meet project timelines. Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. At least 2-4 years of professional experience as an instructional designer. Experience in e-learning development, video editing, and building courses in a learning management system. Articulate experience strongly preferred; website editing/development knowledge and experience with both in-person and online learning development are a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Comprehensive Benefits
